“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength...”

Isaiah 40:31

21 Days of The Process

As we go through the fast together, we invite you to visit this page daily to dig into the truth of God’s word together and encourage each other by sharing what he’s saying to you during your time with him!

DAY 1 - Salvation

DAY 1 - Salvation

Truth gets twisted by the world we live in, so it’s vital to frequently pause and compare what the world says is right with what God says.

  • The world tells us that there are many paths to God and everyone should choose the one that’s right for them. What does God tell us in John 14:6, Acts 4:12, and Matthew 7:13-14?
  • The world tells us people are basically good. What does God tell us in Romans 3:10-12, Romans 3:23, and Jeremiah 17:9?
  • The world tells us that believing we all need God’s forgiveness is silly, offensive, or a sign of weakness. What does God tell us in 1 Corinthians 1:18?
DAY 2 - Salvation

DAY 2 - Salvation

To understand God’s amazing gift of salvation, we must understand why we need to be saved. What do you feel God saying to you in his word?

  • Because Adam and Eve sinned, we all have sin in us. Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23

  • God warned Adam and Eve before they sinned that the penalty would be death. Genesis 2:16-17

  • God’s perfect holiness results in his righteous wrath against sin and us. Romans 1:18, Jeremiah 30:23
DAY 3 - Salvation

DAY 3 - Salvation

Now that we’ve spent time thinking about why we need salvation, let’s turn to why and how God saves us. What do you feel God saying to you in his word?

  • God loves us passionately and does not want us to die in our sin. Romans 5:8, 2 Peter 3:9

  • Our sinful nature prevents us from following God’s law/requirements for righteousness, and if we could have done it ourselves, Jesus would not have had to die. Romans 8:3-4, Galatians 2:21

  • God sent his son Jesus to pay the penalty of death that all of us deserve. John 3:16-17, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:17
DAY 4 - Salvation

DAY 4 - Salvation

As we wrap up our focus on Salvation, let’s dig a little deeper into some final thoughts. What do you feel God saying to you in his word?

  • Salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection is a gift he offers to us, but each of us must choose whether to believe and accept it. Romans 10:9-10
  • Choosing God’s forgiveness means rejecting sin moving forward - we can’t have it both ways. Acts 3:19; Joshua 24:15

  • Once we commit ourselves to him, we belong to him forever and gain eternal life with him. John 10:28-29, Romans 8:31-39
DAY 5 - Progressive Sanctification

DAY 5 - Progressive Sanctification

Once we accept God’s incredible gift of salvation, we must begin growing in our relationship with him and letting him make us more like him as he always intended us to be. Look up the scripture at the end of each statement - what do you feel God saying to you in his word?

  • God created human beings in his image. Genesis 1:27
  • Sin separated us from God. Isaiah 59:2

  • Progressive sanctification means that we are forgiven (1 John 1:9, Romans 8:1) and made new (2 Corinthians 5:17), but we still fight against our sinful nature (Romans 7:21-25) in our transformation to become more like our heavenly father.
DAY 6 - Progressive Sanctification

DAY 6 - Progressive Sanctification

Imagine a tree full of beautiful fruit. The tree did not have to strain and struggle to produce it - fruit is the natural result when a tree is healthy, well-maintained, and deeply rooted in good soil. The same is true for us - when we focus on growing in our relationship with God through daily prayer and reading his word, he makes us more like him as a result. Obedience to him becomes easier when our love and attention are focused on him. Look up the scripture for the items below - what do you feel God saying to you in his word?

  • The fruit of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22-23
  • Love - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
DAY 7 - Progressive Sanctification

DAY 7 - Progressive Sanctification

Fighting against sin and temptation every day is not easy! Thankfully, God doesn’t expect us to do it by ourselves or in our own strength. Look up the scripture at the end of each statement - what do you feel God saying to you in his word?

  • God has given us armor for the battle. Ephesians 6:10-18
  • Someday, Jesus is coming back for us, and we won’t have to fight against sin ever again! Matthew 24:30, Titus 2:11-14, 2 Peter 3:13
  • We can look forward in joyful, confident hope to what God promises us. Isaiah 65:17, Revelation 21:1-5
DAY 8 - Identity

DAY 8 - Identity

The world we live in today tells us that we can be whatever we want to be, and only we can decide who we are. The world tells us that this is true freedom and authenticity, but over time history demonstrates that each generation is more lost and hopeless than the one before. The God who made and loves us tells us who we really are. Look up the scriptures below - what do you feel your Heavenly Father telling you in his own words?

  • 1 John 3:1-3

  • 1 Peter 2:9

  • 1 Peter 1:3-9
DAY 9 - Identity

DAY 9 - Identity

Let’s spend a little more time together looking at what else God says about us! Look up the scriptures below - what do you feel him telling you in his word?

  • Romans 8:35-37

  • 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

  • Ephesians 2:10
DAY 10 - Purpose

DAY 10 - Purpose

Our world today offers a variety of loud opinions about our purpose in life and what our priorities should be - if we listen to those voices, we will quickly lose our bearing. God provides a secure anchor and foundation to keep us focused and clear. Look up the scriptures below - what do you feel him telling you in his word?

  • Isaiah 43:7

  • Romans 8:29

  • Matthew 5:13-16

DAY 11 - Purpose

DAY 11 - Purpose

God’s purpose for us is very different from what the world thinks, and it might be different from what you have always believed your purpose to be! What are you learning about our purpose as God’s children as you spend time in his word?

  • Matthew 28:18-20
  • 1 Corinthians 10:31
  • John 17:3-4
DAY 12 - Suffering

DAY 12 - Suffering

Now that we have spent time on God’s gift of salvation, how he makes us more like him through progressive sanctification, and that he gives us identity and purpose, it’s time to turn to the very difficult topic of suffering. For context, let’s go back to the beginning and remember how suffering began.

  • God created everything, and it was good. Genesis 1
  • God designed all of creation to glorify him. Revelation 4:11, Revelation 5:13, Romans 1:20
  • When Adam and Eve sinned, suffering entered God’s perfect creation. Genesis 3:14-19
  • Suffering will be part of our reality until God brings it to an end forever. Romans 8:20-22
DAY 13 - Suffering

DAY 13 - Suffering

Because of our sinful nature, it’s easy for us to believe that God’s top priority is our health, happiness, and comfort and that his will would never be for us to suffer. How does this compare to what he says in his word?

  • 2 Corinthians 12:8-9
  • 1 Peter 2:20
  • Romans 5:3-5
Day 14 - Suffering

Day 14 - Suffering

Although suffering was not part of God’s design for us in the beginning, through his incredible love and mercy he transforms even our most painful situations into beautiful examples of his power and greatness! What do you feel him saying in these passages?

  • Isaiah 61:3
  • Hebrews 11:32-40
  • 1 Peter 4:12-19
DAY 15 - Suffering

DAY 15 - Suffering

God promises that when we are obedient and trust him in our seasons of suffering throughout life, everything we must endure will be more than worth it in the end!

  • 2 Timothy 4:7-8
  • 2 Corinthians 4:16-17
  • Revelation 2:10
Day 16 - Prayer

Day 16 - Prayer

Prayer is the component that accompanies reading God’s word as we grow in our relationship with him. It is a conversation with God - we are invited to listen, not only talk. What do you hear God saying as you read his word and pray?

  • John 10:1-21
  • Satan is deceitful and seeks to steal, kill and destroy, so when we listen we must make sure we know whose voice it is that we hear. When satan tells us something, it is consistent with what the world thinks is right.
  • We can know that we are feeling God speak when it is consistent with what he has told us in his word.
DAY 17 - Pryaer

DAY 17 - Pryaer

Sometimes we don’t see an answer from God as soon as we ask for one. When we pray, we must make sure we are asking for something he wants to happen, which he tells us in his word. What do you hear God saying about something you have been asking him for?

  • Luke 18:1-8
  • When his answer is delayed, it is always to our benefit. Sometimes the delay is for our protection because it isn’t good for us to know yet, or he might be increasing our faith by providing the opportunity to be persistent.
Day 18 - Prayer

Day 18 - Prayer

Interceding is praying for others. It is a command and a privilege, and God tells us in his word that Jesus prays for us. Who do you feel God inviting you to pray for?

  • 1 Timothy 2:1, Romans 8:34, James 5:16
  • How to intercede:

Pray consistently and persistently.

Keep in our mind that God is listening and working on your behalf even though you may not see anything happening.

Pray with faith allowing only thoughts of a good outcome into your mind as you pray.

Believe with others.

Pray God’s word over the situation; this helps make sure our prayers are aligned with his promises.

DAY 19 - Transformation

DAY 19 - Transformation

Our genuine relationship with God changes us from the inside out - when we spend time with him in his word and in prayer, he changes our heart and thoughts, which changes our feelings, which shows in our actions.

  • What do you feel God saying to you as you read Colossians 3:1-17?
DAY 20 - Transformation

DAY 20 - Transformation

As children of God, our thoughts and actions must reflect our Heavenly Father. What do you feel God asking you to do as you read his word?

  • Romans 12:2
  • Ephesians 4:20-24
DAY 21 - Blessing
