TRIP FOCUS

Our Guatemala team will have the opportunity to serve in a variety of impactful ways, with a special focus on working with children and families in the community. Ministry opportunities may include construction projects, evangelism, installing water filtration systems, children’s activities, and outreach programs designed to encourage and support local families. There will be many opportunities to share the love of Christ through both practical service and meaningful relationships. As we get closer to the trip, we will finalize the specific areas of ministry based on the needs in Guatemala and the makeup of our team.

Missionary Partner

The Hortons - ChildHope - Open +

As of March 2020, they became Assemblies of God Career Missionaries to Guatemala, after having served one term there as missionary associates. They are country coordinators for the child sponsorship program, ChildHope (formerly Latin America Child Care), to provide education, food, clean water, and the knowledge of HOPE in Jesus Christ to children and families across the country.

In addition, they are helping usher in a new program, Open+, which is part of the RedU network. Open+ is a brand new organization that seeks to engage students on the university campus in intentional relationships, with the desire of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Open+ is mobilizing Christian university students with the tools they need to lead weekly small groups and disciple new followers through one-on-one mentoring. Also, Open+ strives to serve the local church in preparation for unique, new believers and give back to the community in times of crisis.
